CAIS Middle School Student Leadership Conference

Dates: May 5–8, 2026
Location: Calgary, Alberta
Hosts: Rundle College & Calgary French & International School

The 2026 CAIS Middle School Leadership Conference — Climb Together: Lead with Empathy — brings together student leaders from across Canada and Bermuda to explore how empathy, courage, and connection create stronger school communities. Through hands-on workshops, outdoor adventures, and collaborative challenges, students will strengthen skills in communication, teamwork, and authentic leadership.

Keynote Speaker: Connie Jakab
Best-selling author, TEDx speaker, and founder of the Brave Parent Institute, Connie inspires audiences with her message on belonging and the power of empathy to build resilient communities.

Conference Highlights

  • Interactive leadership workshops at Rundle College and Calgary French & International School
  • Outdoor learning day in Canmore and Banff focused on teamwork and reflection
  • Evening socials and a Mix & Mingle Celebration to connect students nationwide
  • Keynote address by Connie Jakab on empathy, belonging, and courage

Participation Details

Each participating school may send four students and up to two advisors. Schools may bring one advisor if preferred. If additional spaces become available, schools will be notified.

Fee: $375 per participant (includes programming, local transportation, and most meals).
Hotel: Elements by Westin Marriott Bonvoy – $199/night (single or double occupancy, breakfast included).
Schools arrange travel to Calgary and airport transfers.

Schedule Overview

  • Tuesday, May 5: Arrival and Welcome Dinner at Rundle College, featuring interactive rally games and music led by alumnus Chris Huband.
  • Wednesday, May 6: Leadership workshops and keynote with Connie Jakab.
  • Thursday, May 7: Outdoor leadership experience in Canmore and Banff, followed by the Mix & Mingle Celebration. Students provide their own lunches this day.
  • Friday, May 8: Reflection, presentations, and closing lunch at Calgary French & International School. Departure by 12:00 PM local time.

Registration

The conference requires a minimum of 25 schools and can accommodate up to 28. It has sold out in previous years — early registration is strongly encouraged.

Registration deadline: January 16, 2026
Full travel, accommodation, and packing details will be shared after registration.
