The mission of CAIS is to develop and promote educational excellence and school improvement in independent schools and joining a Visiting Committee is the most important contribution you can make to the larger independent school community.
All Visiting Committee members are:
- Recommended by their Head of School
- Selected by the Director of Accreditation & Research based on their areas of expertise and experience
- Expected to read the CAIS Accreditation Guidelines and the School’s Internal Evaluation.
- Bound by a CAIS Confidentiality and Conflict of Interest Agreement
Participation on a team is also considered to be the best professional development and networking. Below are some recent comments from Visiting Committee members.

"This is without doubt one of the most enriching Professional Development experiences I have ever had. The leadership was organized, deliberate, and inspiring. The teamwork was fantastic with every member of the committee engaged in rich and enthusiastic dialogue. The experience within the committee was truly humbling. I can only hope that I was able to contribute even a fraction as much as I personally and professionally benefitted from the experience. Thank you for this truly rewarding opportunity!"

"I wanted to thank you very much for the opportunity to be on a CAIS Visiting Committee. What an incredible experience! I now see why people say it is the best PD they have ever done. WPGA was so welcoming, and our Visiting Committee was stellar. I have come away feeling I that have had a wonderful experience and already miss the people on our team! I think the CAIS community is very special, and I felt honoured to be able to work with so many incredible people on our team and work with so many at WPGA."
