Strengthen Your School Leadership

CAIS values the constant and deliberate quest for excellence, and we recognize the vital leadership role that governors play, in partnership with Heads, in the success of our schools. We want all of our schools to have strong Heads who focus on supporting the students of the present, but we also want strong Boards that focus on supporting the students of the future.

The Governance Guide include new learning on a number of areas, including Human Resources, Risk Management, Head Transitions, and Consent Agendas.

Andrew Whiteley

Andrew is a corporate director of Global Payments Canada Financial Corporation and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee. His RSGC career as Assistant Head spanned 15 years, following a 19 year career as Director of Finance & Operations (14 years) and as Chief Accountant (5 years) at Ridley College. He obtained his designation as a Certified General Accountant (CGA) in 1981 while employed by the Chartered Accounting firm, Crawford Smith & Swallow in Niagara Falls.

He has served as President of CAISBO twice and as President of CISBO and has evaluated a dozen schools for CAIS. Andy is a graduate of the Bridgestone racing drivers' academy at Mosport with qualifications as a class C professional racing driver. Andy has served as Treasurer of the Board at Bannockburn School, a Montessori school in north Toronto, and as Treasurer of the Board at Montessori Jewish Day School, a Montessori school in north Toronto.

Andrew and his wife Annette strive daily to lead a balanced purposeful and happy life and regard themselves as extremely lucky to have worked among young people throughout their professional lives.
