2014 Admissions Directors Conference
June 10, 2013
Dear Admission Directors,
As the school year winds down, we hope you find yourself with solid enrolment for September and an opportunity to enjoy some time away this summer.
At the last CAIS conference in Vancouver, CAIS asked for volunteers to host the 2014 conference and we, (Michael Roy, Kathy LaBranche, Heather Kidd and Maggie Houston-White) formed the Executive Planning Committee for the 2014 CAIS Admission Conference. We have begun to meet and set the agenda for what we hope will be an excellent opportunity for professional development as well as a chance to strengthen our professional relationships.
Through our initial discussions we spoke about the professional development opportunities that we have participated in and looked at why some were more effective than others. We each remarked on the benefits of professional development that allowed us to strengthen our team while providing opportunities for each person on the team to have discussions around issues that affect their particular role.
We believe that the next CAIS conference should offer professional development opportunities for all members of our admission offices – Admission Assistants or Office Managers, Admission Officers or Associates, and of course, for Directors of Admission. Over the summer we will provide you with more information about the location, which will be within one hour of the city of Toronto, as well as information on speakers and the agenda. Please feel free to contact any members of the committee if you have ideas for speakers or topics that you would like to discuss.
We hope that you and your team will join us May 27th -29th for an opportunity to share ideas, strengthen old connections, make new connections and enhance your professional practice.
Sincerely,
Maggie Houston-White Heather Kidd
