Visiting Committees
The mission of CAIS is to develop and promote educational excellence and school improvement in independent schools and joining a Visiting Committee is the most important contribution you can make to the larger independent school community.
All Visiting Committee members are:
• Recommended by their Head of School
• Selected by the Executive Director based on their areas of expertise and experience
• Trained with an 'Accreditation and School Improvement’ Workshop
• Expected to read the CAIS Accreditation Guidelines and the School’s Internal Evaluation.
• Bound by a CAIS Confidentiality and Conflict of Interest Agreement
Participation on a team is also considered to be the best professional development and networking. Here are some recent comments from Visiting Committee members:
“Thanks again for a great first time CAIS experience! Although completely exhausted, it has been the best PD I have ever experienced!”
Sabrina D’Angelo, Assistant Director of Middle School
St. Andrew’s College, Ontario
“Thanks so much for the recent letter you sent on behalf of CAIS and the visit to MacLachlan College. It was hard work, but a great professional development experience. I would be happy to participate again, if the need should arise.”
Terry Donaldson,
IB-PYP Coordinator,
Meadowridge School, British Columbia
“We seemed to disband and leave in such a hurry that I don’t believe I said good-bye and thank you to everyone. It was an honour and a joy to meet and work with each of you. Thank you for teaching and sharing, for your sense of humour and the spirit of collegiality. Hope we meet up again.”
Cooki Levy, Head of School
Akiva School, Quebec
