According to a new report from Media Awareness Network, while Canadian teachers believe that digital technologies can enrich students' learning, there are still significant obstacles to overcome in making this happen, one of them being students' lack of digital literacy skills. The report observes that school filters and policies that prohibit or restrict networked devices in the classroom take away the very opportunities youth need to develop digital literacy skills such as responsible use and good judgment. Despite being positive about integrating technology into the classroom, teachers interviewed for the report raised concerns about how personal gadgets such as smartphones can complicate the learning experience and negatively impact the teacher-student relationship.
Universities have been vocal about their ambitions to lure more international students to Canada, but they are quietly worried far too few Canadian students go abroad for their own formative experiences.
At a recent retreat to mark the tenth anniversary of the New Media Consortium's Horizon Project, which produces an annual report on technology trends affecting higher education, participants identified 28 important metatrends.
Opening in Jeju Global Education city in October, Branksome Hall Asia is accepting boys and girls from junior kindergarten to grade 3 and, girls only from grades 4 to 12. For the foundation year, admissions are open through grade 10 only.
